The Beyond Gravity Festival is a biennial festival for digital arts, dance, and performance. It will take place for the second time in 2025 and marks the opening of the Theater im Depot's season.

The festival program for 2025 includes four world premieres, a guest performance, a residency program entitled “Decolonizing the Digital,” and a symposium on the same topic.

Decolonizing the digital means that we want to take a close look at where and how digital technologies cement or even reinforce historically inherited or newly emerging global power imbalances. Our festival program aims to make such inequalities visible, to talk about them, and to devise artistic ways to change them or counteract them. In addition to this thematic focus, we will also present five contemporary artistic positions from the region and Germany that lie between digital arts and performance.

Beyond Gravity Festival 2025 is an event organized by Theater im Depot in cooperation with the Academy for Theater and Digitality at Theater Dortmund and Kulturform Witten, and is carried out in association with MiR.LAB and Koproduktionslabor Dortmund.
