When most people hear the word “kebab”, they think primarily of the dish from the vast Arab-Persian-Turkish-Kurdish region. The name of our event series takes up this cultural association, but is made up of the English word “key” for key and the Arabic word “باب” for door. It is intended to symbolize the intentions of our event series to be a door opener for marginalized groups to event spaces in the club scene that are still characterized by a majority society and homogeneity. With this in mind, we have been organizing events every three months since last year in an attempt to make this intention a reality.

Our last event in the Habibi Da series for the time being will take place on 07.12.2024, when our funding from the NKR ends. The past series has completely fulfilled our desire to create a space of mutual support and appreciation. We want to continue to maintain this space and offer a place where people want to return again and again.

This event will be something very special! We want to offer a diverse program that goes beyond just DJ sets. By collaborating with internationally renowned artists from different parts of the world, we want to highlight the quality of our program and further increase the visibility of the collective. By including artists with global recognition, we are making a statement: we want to put the diversity and creativity of our community in the spotlight and do our part to create visible and inclusive spaces in the electronic music scene in the long term. For our line-up this time, we have exclusively selected FLINTA* BIPoC artists to send a clear signal against the dominance of white cis-male actors in the scene.

But it is not only artistic creation that should be representative of our diverse society. In order to ensure that everyone who wants to can cavort in front of the stage, we as organizers have to make sure that no one feels restricted. That's why we want to try to create a space that can accommodate a wide range of barriers. So if you want to be part of this evening, but need certain conditions, please write to us and we will try to make this possible together (keybab.kollektiv@gmail.com).
