Virtual Mindscapes - Inner utopias as virtual landscapes
The interactive worlds of video games are particularly suitable for reflecting inner states, feelings and moments on the outside and making them tangible for others. The workshop, which the media-artistic formation K.o.Z. is conducting in collaboration with the co-production laboratory, aims to immerse participants in these mental worlds - the mindscapes. Together, we want to explore the utopian potential of mindscapes. In addition to presenting practical examples, tools in and around video games will be provided to materialize individual utopias at workstations.
As part of the Next Level Festival, the Digital Co-Production Lab is organizing the second KoLab Day 2024. This time - on the occasion of the Next Level Festival - with the topic Gamification in Art. How can artistic works be created with the help of game development tools? How interactive is the art exhibition of tomorrow? What possibilities do game engines offer to create our own utopias?
The Next Level Festival is dedicated to digital game culture and the use of new technologies in art and combines performances, interactive installations and a rich supporting program. Over three days, the Digital Coproduction Lab will offer a wide range of events on these topics:
Friday marks the start of the two-day workshop with the Kollektiv ohne Zukunft (K.o.Z.), with whom there will be an artist talk on Friday evening about their foundation, projects and their future. Also on Friday, there will be a vernissage for the digital art exhibition in the KoLab, including DJ & drinks. During the day on Saturday, there will be a free art exhibition for all those who were unable to make it on Friday. Finally, there will be a workshop on Sunday to experiment with the new adaptation of the Unreal Engine for Fortnite (UEFN). More information below:
The workshop is aimed at (media) artists with initial experience in the field of digital art production. The maximum number of participants is 12 - therefore we ask for registration via info@medienwerk.nrw until 11.11.2024.
