A cooperation between the Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr and Theater Oberhausen

MC Messer fights his way through life without toleration or a work permit and his gang follows him unconditionally. But Mr. and Mrs. Springmann have a lot of money from their flourishing company, a lot of power through the dependencies they have created and they want to prevent their daughter Polly from getting involved with someone like MC Messer.

The second production of the Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr works with the motifs of the "Beggar's Opera" and takes us into the world of today, into a world of clan crime and absurd deportation policies. The dissolution of the boundaries between high culture and urban art, newly composed sounds, the powerful language of rap and the energy of the Urban Arts Ensemble Ruhr aims to appeal to a broad audience that is rarely found in the subsidized theater.
