Saturday, 02.08.2025 - Hip Hop BBQ & concerts (from 5 p.m.)

From 5 p.m., the outdoor area of the Rotunde will be transformed into a block party in the best
sense - with live graffiti, streetwear market (including Zwanzik Store), a breakdance
showcase, the legendary Beatcypher (with Classic der Dicke, Dr. Dreh, Mr Blangis & Rabbit
builds the beat) and a film screening of ‘We Almost Lost Bochum’.
The concert programme starts at 8:30 p.m. with all the headliners and local heroes.

The festival is organized by the Goldene Zeiten Kollektiv.

DJ Kurtis Flow and Janwillem Huda are also jointly responsible for the artistic direction and project management.

Golden Era, Golden Vibes - in the centre of Bochum.

Bochum is getting a new festival - in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle, with beats, attitude and vision: The ‘Ruhrban - Hip Hop & Art Festival’ celebrates the golden era of hip hop on the first weekend in August 2025 - with concerts, art, discussion and culture in public spaces.

Vision and concept

Ruhrban stands for a high-quality, low-threshold and diverse subculture programme that combines the four pillars of hip hop culture - rap, DJing, graffiti and breakdancing - in an interdisciplinary format.
The Rotunde Bochum will become a centre for beats, images and movements, complemented by outdoor spaces and collaborations with urban locations such as the Goldkante and the Zwanzik Store.
The aim: to make urban culture visible, enable participation, set new impulses - in Bochum, from the Ruhr region, for everyone.

Line-up & programme highlights

The headliner is DIE P - one of the most important and honest voices in German-language rap at the moment, winner of multiple awards, FLINTA pioneer and currently on her way to conquering a permanent place in the real rap hall of fame. Her energetic live shows and razor-sharp lyrics are a highlight of the present.

LAKMANN ONE is a legend of German boom bap - a creator of classic styles and deep lyrics who, for many, forms the bridge between the golden age and today's scene. At Ruhrban, old meets new, experience meets new beginnings.

In addition, local acts such as EL9Six, Justice, Bagu and Adrinalin represent the scene in Bochum and the surrounding area and show that rap culture is alive and growing in the Ruhr region.
