PowerStrangers - touching the not yet

"PowerStrangers - touching the not yet" is an immersive physical theatre production with integrated, creative audio description for ages 14 and up.
In PowerStrangers, we look at our coexistence in the future tense: Who will we have been? What will be left of us? And then we ask: Who do we want to have been? What utopias of community do we find?
To this end, we will visit liminal places in the Ruhr region: Brownfields, railway stations, slagheaps, in-between spaces and vacancies. These places-in-transition, with their inscribed memories, their empty spaces, their undescribed future, offer potential for our community.
We dig in the soil, feel the stories, invent the forgotten, take a bird's eye view, listen to the bustle of the railway station, dance at night-time bus stops. On the wastelands, we encounter ourselves in time.
At PowerStrangers, the liminal border, intermediate and transit spaces of the Ruhr region are translated into text surfaces, music, video art and, last but not least, an immersive meeting space.

About Sticky Fragments - Physical Theatre Company

‘Sticky Fragments’ is a transdisciplinary physical theatre group based in the Ruhr area. The team, consisting of Meret König, Valentin Schwerdfeger and Charlie Wyrsch, is in good company with collaborators from various disciplines, depending on the project.
Open in artistic format, the ‘Sticky Fragments’ have developed several pieces together since 2021 using the Aesthetics of Access approach: “Ungirling”, ‘in the end I need a hug’ (endowed with the Folkwang Prize), ‘Minor Glitch’ 2024 at Barnes Crossing in Cologne. ‘Power Strangers - touching the not yet’ is currently being developed at the Zeche Zollverein and the Theater im Depot.

Sticky Fragments" can be found at sticky interfaces: between physical theatre and visual art, digitality and devising, performance and rehearsal, research and laughter. The works are always created by their own authors and combine intensive artistic research with playfulness and humour. In terms of content, the company always sticks to queer-feminist and anti-capitalist themes and tries to dream up new futures.

The company's centre of work and life is in the Ruhr area, so the current socio-cultural themes of this region and the unique post-industrial landscape are always incorporated into our work. Through its cooperation with the Zollverein Foundation, the Theater im Depot, the digital co-production laboratory in Dortmund and the Physical Theatre Network, the company is also strongly networked with other cultural institutions in the Ruhr region.
