Two circus artists, two signatures, one performance experience. Symbiosis is a contemporary circus diptych created by Munich-based artist Kolja Huneck and Dutchman Luuk Brantjes. In a surreal universe, the artists explore how people relate to the transient world around them.
Using objects made from oil, Kolja creates a world in which vinyl records not only play music, but also become part of complex juggling patterns. The fragility of the records meets the roughness of the asphalt - in absurd and humorous moments.
While Kolja manipulates the materials, Luuk finds himself in the role in which the material influences him. Through acrobatics, he explores the dialogue between body and material, questions gravity, plays with risks and discovers dependencies on his material partners. Using a specially developed apparatus, Luuk dives headfirst into all corners of the dome tent, constantly moving between balance and imbalance.
In Symbiosis, juggling and acrobatics merge into a surprising choreographic dialogue between artists, objects, material and space.
A special highlight of the project is the domed tent on Mariahilfplatz, which allows the audience to immerse themselves directly in the images and atmosphere of the performance. A customised space that creates its very own world of material, movement and sound and takes root in every new location.
